Chondrosarcoma of the Cricoid Cartilage

C. Thomas Yarington, Jr, MD

The diagnosis and treatment selection for chondrosarcoma of the cricoid cartilage are discussed. Computed tomography scans and large-bore needle biopsy are usually adequate for diagnosis. In low-grade tumors, the ability to completely resect the lesion and reconstruct the larynx determines the need for laryngectomy. Illustrative cases are presented.
