It is a pleasure to present the Gabriel F. Tucker Award for outstanding contributions in pediatric laryngology. I would like to ask John Tucker to escort this year's Gabriel Tucker award winner to the podium. This award was established in 1987 for individuals who have made outstanding contributions to pediatric laryngology and/or to the ALA. In this instance, Dr Joyce Schild from Chicago qualifies on both counts, and it is a pleasure to present to Joyce this beautiful medal in recognition of her outstanding contributions.

Thank you very much. I was really overwhelmed when I first heard about this, and I still am. I worked with Gabe for a number of years at Children's, directly and then indirectly as I went full-time with the University of Illinois in Chicago. Gabe was a wonderful teacher, a wonderful mentor, and a very true friend, and I am really honored.
