GERALD
B. HEALY, MD
One of the great benefits afforded to the President is the opportunity
to choose a Guest of Honor. My choice was easy and long overdue. In 1976,
it was my great fortune to begin working with Trevor John McGill at the
Children's Hospital, Boston. For the past 24 years, this great pediatric
otolaryngologist has been my associate, confidant, and, most importantly,
my trusted friend.
Trevor was born in Kells, Ireland, and after graduation from University
College, Dublin, he completed his primary otolaryngology training in the
United Kingdom and an otology fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear
Infirmary. I was fortunate enough to become Trevor's associate at Children's
Hospital, Boston, in 1976. Since that time, we have enjoyed a special relationship
and, most importantly, a special friendship.
This outgoing, superb physician is endowed with a keen wit and outstanding
clinical skills. His broad knowledge base, sound judgment, and reassuring,
calm manner have led him to become the doctor's doctor in Boston and an
internationally recognized leader in pediatric otolaryngology. In addition,
Trevor is considered one of our department's most gifted teachers. His
wise counsel and unique clinical judgment make him a most sought-after
consultant on a daily basis.
My added good fortune in being associated with Trevor has been the bond
that has developed between our families. We have both been blessed with
loving wives, Angela and Anne, and terrific children. This unique relationship
has led to extended families for both Trevor and myself.
It is with enormous admiration and deep affection that I present my friend
and this year's Guest of Honor, Trevor McGill.
