Instructions for Preparing Abstract - The title must be in CAPITAL LETTERS

  1. The abstract must adequately describe the objectives of the study so that the quality of the work can be evaluated by the Program Committee.
  2. The title of the abstract should be fully informative of the contents.
  3. The abstract should contain:
    1. an introduction that presents the purpose of the study;
    2. a brief description of the method employed;
    3. a summary of the results; and 
    4. a statement of conclusions. (Abstracts that do not contain these four elements will not be considered by by the Program Committee.)
  4. The authors must accept sole responsibility for the statements in their abstracts.
  5. Illustrations are not permitted; however, a brief, clear table is acceptable if printed within the abstract.
  6. Supplementary data are not accepted and will not be forwarded to the Program Committee.
  7. Abbreviations may be used in the abstracts if they are defined at first mention. Abbreviations may be used in the title if they follow in parentheses immediately after the term being abbreviated.
  8. The abstract must be limited to 250 words or less.

ABSTRACTS MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 31, 2017

If the abstract is accepted for oral or poster presentation, submission of a completed manuscript is required. This should be submitted to The Laryngoscope by March 20, 2018. Please see the Instructions to Authors at https://mc.manuscriptcentra.com/lscope.   Once received by the Journal, you will receive a confirmation number (i.e., LS-XXXX). Please forward this confirmation number to the Administrator.

An electronic copy should also be sent to the ALA Editor, Dinesh Chhetri, MD at DChhetri@mednet.ucla.edu by March 20, 2018.

If you wish your manuscript be considered for the Casselberry Award, one (1) copy must be submitted via email to the Administrator, Maxine Cunningham, by December 8, 2017. The email address is maxine.c@comcast.net.

Agreement Accepting Podium/Poster Presentation

Please read the statement below regarding the abstract and its related manuscript attesting that it is being submitted as original materials to the American Laryngological Association.  By submitting this abstract electronically, the Author is attesting that the materials in this presentation have not been submitted for publication, published, or presented previously and is not under consideration for presentation at another meeting.  Failure to comply may result in the paper being withdrawn from presentation. The penalty for duplicate presentation/publication is prohibition of the author from presenting at an ALA meeting for a period of two (2) years.  

If accepted for podium or poster presentation and I accept the invitation to present by signing and returning the Agreement for Podium/Poster Presentation, I understand that should I withdraw my presentation, I may be prohibited from presenting for a period of two (2) years.

      

Information Regarding Disclosure Statement

DISCLOSURE FORMS
Disclosure forms with the original signature are required from all listed authors on all abstract/manuscripts selected as podium presentations. A disclosure form for each co-author will be provided to the corresponding and/or first author once the abstract has been accepted for podium presentation. This individual will be responsible for distributing a copy of the disclosure form to each co-author and ensuring all forms are returned to the Office of the ALA Administrator by faxing (615-739-6459); scanning and emailing to maxine.c@comcast.net; by the required date.  Please review these instructions to confirm compliance of this requirement.
